Volunteers Needed

~ We need your help!! ~
The month of September is a huge month for us!  We have organized many community-wide diaper drives throughout the Piedmont Area and we need volunteers to help us staff the collection boxes and share information with others in our community.  This is a great opportunity for small groups, friends, scouting programs, churches, etc. to share a few hours to support the Piedmont Diaper Bank.

If you can volunteer for a 2 hour shift at one of the diaper drives below  (there's probably one near you!), please sign up on our online volunteer sign up sheet or email us at PiedmontDiaperBank@gmail.com.

What is involved in a diaper drive? A quick Q&A

How can I help the Piedmont Diaper Bank?
Diaper Drives are our biggest source of diaper donations and we need volunteers to organize diaper drives at their school, church or work.

Umm, organize a diaper drive?  It sounds involved and complicated...
Actually, organizing a diaper drive is fairly simple.
  1. First, get permission from the school, church or business.
  2. Work with your organization to set the dates for the drive.  The dates can be for a week or a month, or any other time frame that will work best for your organization.
  3. Promote the Diaper Drive with posters, flyers, letters, emails, newsletter or bulletin announcements - whatever communication works best for your organization.  This part isn't so hard because we can help!  We have some flyers you can modify with the dates and location of the diaper drive.  We also have sample letters and announcements that you can use.
  4. Collect diapers.  We'll provide a collection box for you and at the end of the drive, we'll come by and get the diapers.  Easy!
Okay, maybe I could do that.  How do I get started?
Contact us by filling out the form with your name and email address or phone number and tell us that you want to help organize a diaper drive.  We'll email you and help you get started.

I own/manage my own business.  Is there a way my business can partner with The Piedmont Diaper Bank?
Yes, we are always looking for creative ways to encourage our local community to get involved.  Contact us and we'll work together on a plan.

Who likes New Year's Resolutions?

I like to make New Year's Resolutions.  A new year, a new start - it's a refreshing way to approach life.  But often our resolutions can become mundane and monotonous.  Stop eating bad food; Start eating good food; Lose weight; Exercise; Stop this bad habit; No more of that bad thing.  It seems that most resolutions are about changing something negative in our lives.

So why not focus instead on the positive parts of our lives?  This year, consider thinking of some positive resolutions.  If you are reading this blog, you are most likely someone who has compassion on those facing hardships and difficult situations.  A New Year's Resolution to put more action behind your compassion could quickly multiply, spreading your positive attitude to friends and strangers.  (Of course, in the next paragraph, I will shamelessly suggest including the Piedmont Diaper Bank in your positive action, but don't think the challenge is just for our benefit...)  There are lots of ways you can put more action in your compassion and lots of organizations who need help.  Get involved and find ways to use your special talents and interests.

With that thought, the majority of our diapers are donated through diaper drives.  We need people in our community to help host and organize diaper drives at their business, church or school.  It is pretty simple and it is not a huge time commitment, but it has a great impact on others in our community.  We will post later this week with more information about how to organize a diaper drive.  If you want to organize a diaper drive, let us know through the Contact Us page.

And have a Happy New Year!!!!
